About

Welcome to Nomads Land. Bienvenido. καλωσόρισμα.

I’m Payton. 20 years young, vegetarian, Birkenstock wearing, risk taking, idealistic and eternally optimistic nomad. My next venture, Grecian in nature and romantic in context, begins with the wild move from sunny California, USA to Athens, Greece.

The purpose for Nomads Land is completely and utterly selfish. Yes, I said it. It’s probably taboo, but yes, selfish. This blog is all about me as I take on the obstacles of life in an attempt to better understand myself and how I fit into the puzzle of this world. I do hope however that my words stimulate and inspire new insights for you, dear reader.

I firmly believe that values, what we hold close to our hearts, are what make up who we are, the self. But how does one figure out whats important, let alone know thy self? I was in a cafe once and in line an elderly woman asked me what it was I was studying at the local university. I explained to her that I was studying the Humanities. And as one can expect she replied, “What do you plan to do with that?” I cannot depict to you the fury I feel when asked this question. I replied to her with all the calmness I could muster, “I want to get to know myself,” her reply , “What a luxury.”

Her response prompted the realization that most people go through life without actually figuring out who they are, what it is their hearts truly desire, and furthermore, a sense of fulfillment. Having the opportunity to get to know ones self truly is a luxury. I’ve come to the conclusion that you understand your values, what’s truly important to you, when it’s that very thing that’s been tested. Life begins when you step out of your comfort zone.

So, step out of your comfort zone with me and let’s go on the adventure of a life time!

Ok, so that was dumb. The “About Me” section is so arbitrary in general. I ask myself questions, “What do I want to say about myself? What do I want others to know about me?” Nothing.

I would ask that you only read this blog, containing my thoughts and aspects of life, which inevitably is a reflection of my values, aspirations, and the things that shed light about what it means to be human… for me. I am basically cutting my chest open, spilling my heart out to you. So, if you don’t find anything meaningful to YOUR humanity from my pages, I politely ask you to FUCK OFF (… Don’t mind me. Just, you know, protecting my heart here). But, if you do find something, anything meaningful or important here, welcome!
